Which suitcase fits the KQ cabin bag limit?
The cabin limit of 55 cm tall is about 21.5 inches, and it includes the wheels and handles. This is where many travellers get caught out: the “inch” size printed on a suitcase usually measures the body only, so a suitcase sold as 22 inches can be 58–60 cm once you add the wheels.
- A 20-inch suitcase usually fits within 55 cm including wheels. This is the safest choice for a cabin bag.
- A 21–22-inch suitcase may or may not fit. Measure it with a tape from the bottom of the wheels to the top of the handle before you buy.
- Depth matters too. The limit is 25 cm deep. An expandable suitcase can go over this when the expansion zip is open, so keep it closed for cabin use.
Remember the weight: 10 kg (or 12 kg) goes quickly. A lighter suitcase leaves more of the allowance for your belongings.

Checked bags on Kenya Airways economy can weigh up to 23 kg each. As a rough guide:
- Medium (24″–26″): usually reaches around 18–23 kg when fully packed with clothes. This is the easiest size for staying under 23 kg.
